Jayron Hosley Scouting Report

5′ 10″ 172 • Cornerback  • Virginia Tech

Pros:

  • Quick feet
  • Plays much bigger than listed size
  • Top notch play recognition
  • Very quick set of reaction skills
  • Tremendous ball skills
  • Ideal in zone coverage
  • Ballhawk CB; Does a great job getting ball at the highest point
  • Keesp feet under him when he’s in the back pedal; Good balance
  • Physical
  • Good timing
  • Added dimension as a returner

Cons:

  • One of the smaller CB prospects in this draft
  • Lacks top end closing speed
  • Once he gets beat, it’s over
  • Can be too physical; PI calls will be a concern
  • Limited in man coverage
  • Not a great tackler

MockDraft 101′s Opinion:

  • Hosley has great ball skills and competes hard on every play. Not as big as you want your CB’s on the outside to be, that’s why he may be limited to the nickel role. Plays the position like a FS. Should be a solid 2nd round pick, but may slip into the 3rd.

Brian Quick Scouting Report

6′ 4″ 222 • Wide Receiver • Appalachian St.

Pros:

  • Perfect blend of size, speed, and athleticism
  • Very smooth; Long legs, can cover ground in a hurry
  • Excellent leaper
  • Large catch radius; Strong hands
  • Displays good body control
  • Makes acrobatic catches
  • Very sudden in and out of breaks
  • Has solid top end speed
  • Dangerous after the catch
  • Big redzone target; Won’t lose on jump balls

Cons:

  • Inconsistent hands; Seems to have lapse in concentration
  • Doesn’t have top end acceleration; Takes a while to get to his top speed
  • Rout running is extremely raw
  • Never was challenged in press coverage
  • Still learning
  • Downfieled blocking needs to be improved

MockDraft 101′s Opinion:

  • Quick has as much upside in this draft as anyone. His trifecta of size, speed, and athletic ability could translate into a #1 weapon for an NFL team. Has an uncanny leaping ability in which most can’t match. There are some facets of his game that need to be fixed, like route running and concentration, but the return investment would be hard for teams to ignore. Has a solid 2nd round grade, but I would not be shocked if a team fell in love with and grabbed him at the bottom of round 1.
