Jerel Worthy Scouting Report

6′ 3″ 305 • Defensive Tackle • Michigan St.

Pros:

  • Great size and bulk
  • Extremely strong
  • Surprising quickness off the snap
  • Does a great job shooting gaps; Can dart past slower O-lineman
  • Very active and strong hands
  • One of the more explosive DT’s in this draft
  • Great change of direction
  • Array of pass rush moves
  • Scheme versatility
  • Clogs up running lanes; Excellent in goal line defense
  • High upside; Still developing the nuances of the game

Cons:

  • Inconsistent play
  • Would like to see him disengage from blockers better
  • Non-factor against double teams
  • Seems to get “banged up” alot
  • Still refining his technique
  • Stamina concerns

MockDraft 101′s Opinion:

  • Worthy has all the physical traits you look for in a 3 down lineman. He’s and ideal 4-3 DT, but can easily play 5-tech in a “30″ front One of the more explosive DT’s in this draft, Worthy brings alot to the table as far as pass rushing and run defense. However, you would like for him to be more consistent and not disappear at times. More consistency and he would be a lock for day 1, but should hear his name called in the middle of round 2.
